Job description
Build the tallest timber building in Portland — and grow into a Project Manager in 3 years. Basalt & Cedar Construction Group is a Portland-based general contractor with 20 years in the Pacific Northwest. We build offices, schools, affordable housing and mass timber projects. 30% of the company is owned by our employees.
The role You'll join the team delivering Riverline Tower, a 12-story mass timber office building in the Pearl District ($68M, completion 2028). You'll work side by side with a Senior PM and Superintendent, split roughly 60% office / 40% jobsite.
What you'll do
- Manage RFIs, submittals and change orders in Procore
- Track the schedule and flag delays before they happen
- Coordinate daily with subcontractors, architects and structural engineers
- Walk the site weekly to check quality and progress against the model
- Help prepare monthly cost reports and owner meetings
What you need
- Bachelor's in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field
- 1–3 years on commercial projects (internships count)
- Working knowledge of Procore or similar, Bluebeam, MS Project or P6
- Clear written English. RFIs are your main tool.
Nice to have
- Mass timber, CLT or seismic retrofit experience
- EIT certification or progress toward PE
- Spanish, since many of our field crews speak it
Pay and benefits
- $78,000–$98,000/year + project completion bonus (5–10%)
- Medical, dental, vision: we pay 90% of your premium
- 401(k) with 100% match up to 5%, plus employee stock ownership after 3 years
- 15 days PTO + 9 holidays from year one
- $6,000/year tuition reimbursement; we pay for your PE exam and LEED AP
- Company truck allowance of $750/month
Relocation and visas Relocation assistance up to $15,000. We sponsor H-1B and TN visas for this role and support STEM OPT extensions (E-Verify employer).
How we hire 15-minute video call with HR → technical interview with the project team → site visit and meeting with the Director. The whole process takes about 2 weeks. We reply to every applicant. Visa sponsorship record
No public sponsorship records foundWe didn't find H-1B, H-1B1, E-3 or green card (PERM) filings under the name Basalt & Cedar Construction Group, LLC in the Department of Labor and USCIS data. That doesn't mean the job can't be sponsored — the company may file under a different legal name, be new to sponsorship, or sponsor a visa that isn't in these datasets (for example H-2B or J-1).
Tip: ask the recruiter early, in writing, which visa they sponsor and whether they cover the legal and filing fees.

Same degree requirement as H-1B, but no lottery and a separate quota that is rarely filled.
