RECRUITING TENURE TRACK NURSING FACULTY
Position Type: Negotiable, Tenure-Track

Location: Be present in person at the College of Nursing on the University of Iowa Campus
The University of Iowa College of Nursing invites applications for tenure-track faculty at all ranks. As a leading research institution, we are well-equipped to support candidates with robust programs of research who are committed to advancing our research, teaching, and service missions.
Priority will be given to applicants with expertise in:
- Women’s Health
- Pediatrics/Child/Neonatal Health
- Psychiatric/Mental Health
Additionally, applicants with expertise in other areas and populations will be considered.
About the College of Nursing
The College of Nursing has two well-developed signature areas relevant to researchers looking to further their careers in the focal areas outlined above including 1). symptom and multimorbidity science, and 2). informatics, data science, and decision support. These areas are cross-cutting in terms of populations and the life span. In addition, the University of Iowa is home to a very successful Institute for Clinical and Translational Science, Stead Family Children’s Hospital, the Iowa Biobank, a treasure trove of maternal and fetal data, and the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, which has been at the forefront of psychological research and training for a century.
As a leader in nursing education, research, and practice innovations, the College of Nursing has received national recognition by U.S. News & World Report. Education Requirement:
- Earned PhD in nursing or a healthcare-related field from an accredited university or college
Required Qualifications:
- If you have a nursing degree, must be licensed as a registered nurse and able to obtain and maintain licensure in the State of Iowa
Required Qualifications for Assistant Professor:
- Promise of ability as a teacher
- Promise of scholarly productivity, supported by publications or the equivalent
Required Qualifications for Associate Professor:
- Demonstrated scholarly achievement supported by substantial grant funding and high-quality publications
- Evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate, graduate, and/or postdoctoral level
- Indications of evolving leadership in departmental, collegiate, and/or University service and increasing engagement in professional service
Required Qualifications for Professor:
- Continued scholarly achievement of high quality, accompanied by unmistakable evidence of national and international recognition as a scholar
- Consistent record of high-quality teaching at all appropriate instructional levels, including successful guidance of doctoral graduate students to the completion of their degree programs
- Substantial record of significant and effective service to the department, college, and/or the University and to the profession
Desirable Qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in the priority areas noted above
- Desired education from an R1 institution; a liberal arts college or a teaching intensive institution; or public, non-profit private institution.
- Doctoral degree in nursing or related field from an accredited school of nursing with national certification in specialty area (when applicable).
