The internal salary ranges are $61,905 - $66,032 (Lecturer-IR) and $71,601 - $76,375 (Lecturer-AT), depending on degree. Job Purpose: The Integrated Media Department (Public Relations program) at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, invites applications for a full-time, fixed-term, renewable non-tenure-track faculty position beginning Fall 2027. The successful candidate will be appointed at the rank of Lecturer. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in Public Relations and build and maintain connections with local industry and the broader field. The position also includes academic and career advising, service to the department and University, and, beginning in the second year, leadership responsibilities within the Public Relations program, including program assessment and curriculum review. For more information on our mission, please visit: https://www.gonzaga.edu/about/our-mission-jesuit-values/mission-statement Essential Functions: Teach the equivalent of 24 credits per academic year, including, but not limited to, Public Relations Principles and Theories, Public Relations Writing, Public Relations Speech Writing and Delivery, Media Research, and Media/PR Ethics. The regular teaching load is four courses (12 credits) per semester, with the possibility of course reassignments based on other responsibilities. Develop and maintain connections with local industry and the broader field in ways that inform teaching, enhance the student experience, and help the faculty member remain current in the field. Provide academic and career advising to Public Relations majors, beginning in the second year. Support the department and University through service and other forms of academic citizenship, including attending regular departmental and campus-wide meetings. Provide leadership within the Public Relations program, beginning in the second year, including overseeing processes such as program assessment and curriculum review. Minimum Qualifications: A master’s degree in public relations, media studies, communication, strategic communications, business administration, or a related field; a professional doctorate or discipline-specific terminal degree; dissertation-stage status in a terminal degree; or a combination of academic credentials and professional experience and expertise deemed appropriate by the department and dean. Preferred Qualifications: At least one year of undergraduate teaching experience in public relations or a similar discipline, such as strategic communication or media writing. Demonstrated ability with curriculum design, assessment, and/or academic advising. Evidence of building and maintaining connections with industry or the broader public relations profession.
