Job description
Take the next step in your career as a Hospitalist Physician in Vancouver, Washington. We believe in bringing "better" to our local community in Vancouver: better care, better collaboration, and a deep commitment to the people we serve. If you're looking for a role that supports your professional growth and your connection to a vibrant community, we’d love to talk. Local Team Collaboration: Join our team of 25 physicians and 9 advanced practice providers (APPs) at Peace Health Southwest Medical Center. Work alongside medical directors, clinical performance nurses, and a program manager. Qualifications: Internal Medicine or Family Medicine trained physicians are welcome to apply. Open to experienced or new grad physicians with availability to commence practice prior to summer 2027; we are not yet considering 2027 residents for this role. H1B candidates invited to apply; access to Sound’s in-house visa specialists and our licensing and credentialing experts; all required visa filing fees are paid, and services are covered. Scheduling: We offer a standard 7-days-on, 7-days-off schedule. Other flexible schedule options may also be available. We support one another by covering shifts when needed. Key Responsibilities: Our hospital has a closed ICU with 24/7 intensivist support, and we don’t require procedures or codes. Opportunity to work with Family Medicine residents. Living and Working in Vancouver: Vancouver isn’t just where we work—it’s where we live and enjoy the perfect balance of urban convenience and natural beauty. With its scenic parks, easy access to the Columbia River, and vibrant downtown, Vancouver offers a welcoming community and plenty of outdoor opportunities. Whether you’re exploring local trails, enjoying cultural events, or relaxing in a family-friendly neighborhood, Vancouver is a place where you can truly call home. We’re a community-minded team and encourage contributions within and outside the hospital to make our local community thrive. We have partnered with a Free Clinic where some of our colleagues have volunteered their time to assist the less fortunate. Rewards and Compensation: Competitive yearly salary in the range of $288,000, depending on experience and shift obligation. H-1B

Regular cap-subject employer — a new H-1B needs to win the lottery in March (unless you already hold cap-counted H-1B status).
- TN (citizens of Canada and Mexico)
This kind of role may fit the USMCA profession “Physician (teaching or research only)” — it depends on the actual duties. No lottery, no cap; you need the matching degree or license.
- E-3 (Australia) and H-1B1 (Chile, Singapore)
Same degree requirement as H-1B, but no lottery and a separate quota that is rarely filled.
- O-1 (extraordinary ability)
For candidates with awards, publications, press, a high salary or critical roles at distinguished organizations. No cap, no lottery; the employer files a petition.
- Green card (EB-2 / EB-3 via PERM)
Filed 3 PERM labor certifications: they have a track record of sponsoring permanent residence.
Salary vs prevailing wage
Level III (experienced)Physicians, All Other · Washington (state median of areas). Annual prevailing wages set by the Department of Labor (OFLC).
| Level | Prevailing wage | H-1B lottery odds* |
|---|---|---|
| Level I | $112,528 | ~15% |
| Level II | $178,006 | ~31% |
| Level III | $254,936 | ~46% |
| Level IV | $314,964 | ~61% |
This job pays $288,000 a year — that's Level III (experienced). In the wage-weighted H-1B lottery a Level III registration gets 3 entries; estimated selection chance about 46% — better than average.
* Odds are DHS projections for the FY2027 wage-weighted lottery (actual results vary by year and employer). Since the FY2027 cap season the H-1B lottery is weighted by wage level: Level I = 1 entry, II = 2, III = 3, IV = 4. The level is set by the offered wage against the prevailing wage for the occupation and worksite. Separately, a $100,000 fee for new H-1B petitions for workers outside the US was announced in 2025; as of September 2026 a federal court ruling keeps it unenforceable while appeals continue — check the current status.
