Job description
If you entered radiation oncology to practice meaningful, patient-first medicine in a place where your expertise truly guides care and you are empowered to make the clinic your own, your next chapter is here. Sky Lakes Medical Center is seeking a compassionate, skilled Radiation Oncologist to step into a thriving, highly respected turnkey practice at Sky Lakes Cancer Treatment Center. As our sole Radiation Oncologist partnered directly with an experienced oncology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) and a dedicated interdisciplinary staff, you will enjoy genuine clinical independence, leadership influence, and the unwavering stability of an award-winning, community-owned health system. Here, you will deliver vital oncology care to Klamath County and surrounding communities while enjoying a predictable schedule and an extraordinary mountain lifestyle.
The Practice: Clinical Freedom, Advanced Technology & Sustainable Pacing
Make the Practice Yours: Lead our radiation oncology service with genuine autonomy. You will have a direct seat at the table in clinical workflows, service line growth, and strategic planning without layers of corporate oversight.
Sustainable Work-Life Balance: Enjoy a structured 4-day clinical schedule paired with 1 dedicated administrative day on-site. Clinic hours run Monday–Thursday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM with midday departure on Fridays as scheduling permits. No clinical weekends or holidays required.
Turnkey, Dedicated Support Team: Work alongside an experienced dual-discipline APP (RO & MO), dedicated Medical Physicist, Certified Medical Dosimetrist, 4 Radiation Therapists, CT/Sim Tech, dedicated RO RN Navigator, and Certified Medical Assistant. Our broader center includes rotating Medical Oncologists, permanent NPs, 6 patient navigators, a social worker, cancer registrar, and full scheduling/authorization teams.
Built-In Peer Network & Coverage: Enjoy peace of mind with 4 established Radiation Oncologists (contract and agency) providing dependable PTO coverage, peer consultation, and remote Tumor Board collaboration.
Generous Visit Lengths & Manageable Pacing: Protect time for deep doctor-patient relationships with 60-minute new consults and 30-minute follow-ups. Typical monthly volumes average ~22 new consults, ~75 office visits, ~60 on-treatment visits, and 21–25 simulations.
Comprehensive Procedural Scope & Modern Equipment: Elekta Infinity Linac, Philips Big Bore CT Simulator, IMRT, IGRT, SBRT, and LDRT for malignant and benign conditions. Broad therapies include Pluvicto and Xofigo, SpaceOAR hydrogel placement (ultrasound-guided), and oropharyngeal scopes.
Inpatient & Call Structure: Outpatient-focused practice. Inpatient admissions and rounding are 100% managed by the hospitalist service (inpatient rounding is not required). Specialty physicians designate their 8 call days per month (including 1 weekend). Calls are pre-screened 24/7/365 by an external RN triage service (Conduit Health Partners), resulting in a very low physician call volume of ~5 calls per month.
Our Culture: Compassion, Teamwork & Sky Lakes Values
At Sky Lakes Cancer Treatment Center, our care delivery is rooted in respect, integrity, and kindness. We operate on the foundational belief that staff satisfaction, mutual respect, and work-life balance directly translate into better patient outcomes and satisfied families:
- Close-Knit Multidisciplinary Community: Experience a warm, family-like environment where every team member is valued. Multidisciplinary coordination is reinforced through weekly RO chart rounds, weekly joint care conferences with Medical Oncology, and monthly multidisciplinary Tumor Boards.
- Comprehensive Supportive Care: We surround our patients with total-person care, including oncology navigation, patient support groups, nutrition education, and foundation-funded programs such as complimentary wig and certified mastectomy fittings by a licensed cosmetologist.
- Profound Community Impact: As the primary oncology anchor for Klamath County, you aren't just an anonymous clinician—you are caring for neighbors, friends, and community members who depend on our center for life-saving care close to home.

Occupation: Physicians, All Other (SOC 29-1229).
- Mentioned in the listing
H-1B
- H-1B cap-exempt employer
Regular cap-subject employer — a new H-1B needs to win the lottery in March (unless you already hold cap-counted H-1B status).
- TN (citizens of Canada and Mexico)
This kind of role may fit the USMCA profession “Physician (teaching or research only)” — it depends on the actual duties. No lottery, no cap; you need the matching degree or license.
- E-3 (Australia) and H-1B1 (Chile, Singapore)
Same degree requirement as H-1B, but no lottery and a separate quota that is rarely filled.
- O-1 (extraordinary ability)
For candidates with awards, publications, press, a high salary or critical roles at distinguished organizations. No cap, no lottery; the employer files a petition.
Salary vs prevailing wage
Level IV (fully competent)Physicians, All Other · Oregon (state median of areas). Annual prevailing wages set by the Department of Labor (OFLC).
| Level | Prevailing wage | H-1B lottery odds* |
|---|---|---|
| Level I | $140,525 | ~15% |
| Level II | $223,454 | ~31% |
| Level III | $306,405 | ~46% |
| Level IV | $389,334 | ~61% |
This job pays $550,000 a year — that's Level IV (fully competent). In the wage-weighted H-1B lottery a Level IV registration gets 4 entries; estimated selection chance about 61% — better than average.
* Odds are DHS projections for the FY2027 wage-weighted lottery (actual results vary by year and employer). Since the FY2027 cap season the H-1B lottery is weighted by wage level: Level I = 1 entry, II = 2, III = 3, IV = 4. The level is set by the offered wage against the prevailing wage for the occupation and worksite. Separately, a $100,000 fee for new H-1B petitions for workers outside the US was announced in 2025; as of September 2026 a federal court ruling keeps it unenforceable while appeals continue — check the current status.
