Job description
Job Title: Systems Administrator (IT & Infrastructure need H1B only)
Scope: This role keeps the organization's IT environment running reliably and securely. You'll own day-to-day administration of our domains, software subscriptions, Microsoft 365/Azure environment, endpoints, and local servers, and you'll support our engineering team with basic DevOps and cloud tasks. This is a hands-on role for someone early in their career who wants to grow. We'll provide training and mentorship across security, cloud, and DevOps
Schedule: Hybrid, weighted toward onsite presence, with occasional remote flexibility. Includes scheduled monthly weekend maintenance windows for patching and security remediation.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Domains, Subscriptions & Assets
- Maintain the company's domain portfolio, including registrar accounts, DNS records, SSL/TLS certificates, and email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC). Track renewals so nothing expires.
- Manage software and SaaS subscriptions: track licenses, owners, renewal dates, and costs; flag unused or duplicate tools; coordinate renewals and cancellations.
- Maintain IT asset and inventory records for hardware, software, and licenses.
Systems Administration & Help Desk
- Provide technical support for laptops, desktops, peripherals, and common software, including device setup, imaging, and onboarding/offboarding.
- Administer Microsoft 365 and Azure (Entra ID): user accounts, groups, licenses, MFA, and access management. Assist with conditional access and data protection (DLP) policies.
- Install, configure, and maintain local servers (Windows and/or Linux), including virtualization, file shares, storage, and server hardware.
- Support network infrastructure (firewalls, VPN, switches, wireless) and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
Security
- Deploy and manage endpoint protection and patching across servers and endpoints, following a documented patch schedule and change process.
- Review security logs and alerts, escalate issues, and help operate our internal AI-assisted network security auditing tools.
- Manage backups, retention policies, and periodic restore tests; support disaster recovery planning.
- Collect and maintain evidence for recurring security controls (e.g., SOC 2) and assist with audit requests.
Basic DevOps
- Support the engineering team with Azure resource administration, access requests, and environment housekeeping.
- Write and maintain scripts (PowerShell, Bash, or Python) to automate routine admin tasks.
- Assist with CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and monitoring under the guidance of senior engineers.
Documentation
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps so knowledge is shared and repeatable.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 2–4 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or a related role.
- Solid troubleshooting skills across hardware, software, and networking, including help desk support for laptops and desktops.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 administration and basic Azure/Entra ID user and access management.
- Working knowledge of DNS, domains, and SSL certificates.
- Experience administering Windows and/or Linux servers.
- Familiarity with endpoint protection, patch management, and backups.
- Organized and detail-oriented, comfortable tracking renewals, licenses, and inventory.
- Clear written and verbal communication; able to document work and explain technical issues to non-technical colleagues.
- Eager to learn and take on new responsibilities as you grow in the role.
Nice to Have (we'll train on these):
- Scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, or Python).
- Exposure to Azure cloud services, CI/CD tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions), or containers (Docker).
- Experience with RMM tools, firewall administration, or virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, VMware).
- Familiarity with security compliance frameworks (SOC 2, GDPR) or audit evidence collection.
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate / Microsoft 365 Fundamentals.
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
Work Location: On the road
Visa sponsorship record
No public sponsorship records foundWe didn't find H-1B, H-1B1, E-3 or green card (PERM) filings under the name Northern Base in the Department of Labor and USCIS data. That doesn't mean the job can't be sponsored — the company may file under a different legal name, be new to sponsorship, or sponsor a visa that isn't in these datasets (for example H-2B or J-1).
Tip: ask the recruiter early, in writing, which visa they sponsor and whether they cover the legal and filing fees.
